This is just a short area, allowing you to pass between areas on the World Map on foot. You will be attacked quite often, but there are a lot of chests hidden around the place that are well worth looking for.
After you leave the Mine, head West to Junon. On the way you can visit Condor Mountain, but this is an optional choice.
