Your mission in Rocket town is to leave the town on the Tiny Bronco, a plane. However, you first have to convice the owner into letting you borrow it.
The owner of the Tiny Bronco is Cid, you will find him inside his rocket (you can't miss it). Once you have talked to him you should find his house and talk to Shera, his assistant. After a while, President Rufus and his motley crew should turn up, also asking to borrow the Tiny Bronco. You have to fight Palmer before you finally steal the Tiny Brono, picking up Cid as you fly out of the town.

After a short FMV sequence you will find yourself back on the World Map, where you should now head for the Ancient Temple. This can be a little tricky to find, so I suggest you look at my Map to help you. |
The only boss you have to fight is Palmer. He is very weak, and watch out for what happens when he finally runs off :-)
Head towards the Rocket, and fight off the Shira Guards. Then sit back and enjoy some more FMV sequences as you blast off into Space.
Once you are up, you have to release the Huge Materia from the Combination Lock before you collide with Meteor.
It is possible to work this one out from the clues Cid gives you, but if you really need it, well here it is :-
Circle, Square, X, X
Once you are back on dry land, head to Cosmo Canyon.
On the way up to the Rocket you encounter Rude.
